COMPETITION TO HUNDLEY CAMP!

RU ROH!
Look's like Randy Hundley's Cub Camp has a
Little competition
Turns out the tenured photographer for the camp
of 11 years was let go in 2007 for
Lack of Performance...allegedly.

Well...Sports fans
He decided to start his own camp
Take a look for yourself and compare the values.

AND HERE'S RANDY'S INFO....
Nothing like a Copyright of 2001

And Finally...
I stopped by the Old Fashioned Wood Bat
Tournament attended by our own
Bash Brother - John Amandes.
John was an Oakland A's for the week.
The tournament around $600 plus hotel and airfare.
So...$1200 when it was all said and done.
Looked like a great time...Way more competitive!
The teams took their representation seriously.

Weekend of Faith, Miracles, Belief, Hope and Prayers!

FAITH
A year ago on Memorial Day weekend
my brother had an emergency heart surgery.
Which turned into a heart transplant
with 72 hours to live.
The odds of finding a heart with an exact
match is slim to none with many people
on waiting lists for years. To find a heart that matches
in less than 12 hours is a MIRACLE....and turned me
into a BELIEVER!
Happy Birthday Jeff! For turning 19
a second time in life!

HOPE

I don't get it!
I was getting my faith back on Soriano.
And he drops the ball.
EVEN I caught everything hit to me in
all the camps that I have played in.
Rain! Sleet! Snow and Sun in
Mesa's Center field I caught.
I HOPE this is a minor setback.
PRAYERS!
And now to some serious stuff.
As many of you may or may not know...
Rick Sutcliffe has Colon Cancer.
The Doctor's feel that they have caught
it in time before it spreads.
Rick and his daughter-Shelby
Rick is a CLASS act and one of the
nicest guys that I have ever had the
pleasure of meeting.
Read the story and say a
prayer for Rick and his family.
Rick deserves to be back at camp in 2009.
Thanks to Sean G for the Story.

Wine! Whine! Whine! Wine!

I appreciate the love for my blog. There is no doubt
I need to update the camp news.
Plus I have sped up the download since some
technology whizzes out there still use dial up modems.

Plans changed and I made it into LAX....and I'm sitting in
the American Airlines club updating the blog and working
on the camp news. Better late than never!

Word is buzzing on the blog...and I don't want to lose the
fandom and interest.
Single Game Cubs tickets go on sale Feb 22nd! It's getting close boys and girls. And the 2008 season will give Sherm something to rant and rave about.Actually watched the movie Fever Pitch on the way to
LA LA Land. Good baseball and chick flick.
Interesting thing is that the Red Sox won the
World Series the year the movie was filmed.
Maybe it's time to film a movie about the
Cubs and Wrigley.
It's 100 hundred years this year.
Time to squish the past.....
Something for Sherm to banter about.
Bartman did get in the way!
I stand corrected.
The torch is passed to Sherm.....

Father Time - End of 2007!

GOOD BYE- GOOD NIGHT AND
GOOD RIDDANCE 2007!!

It's almost over! Time to kick father time
and 2007 to the curb.
For me personally, 2007 has had it's moments. The
toughest year that I have ever experienced and
some of the most fun times that I ever had. I've lost many friends
this year and have experienced other's losses. Who would have
thought, returning from the 2007 Cubs Camp with some
incredible relationships and one of the coolest experiences
would set me up for the challenge of a lifetime.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
May 2008 be the best year ever for you and your family.
No Matter what Letter you choose....have fun and be Smart!
Ad from 1937!

Three Weeks and Counting!
My health is excellent, attitude is fine.
I'm off to my second Randy Hundley's Cubs Camp '08 and will
look forward to the experience and new friendships.

May 2008 bless you with great experiences, rewarding times,
good friends, success and fortune.

Thank you for your support, friendship and
reading my Cubs Bash Brothers Blog!

Another Bash Brother Alumni Introduction - Dr Mike aka Dr "Raker"

Intro to Dr DeCarlo - DeCarlo brother #2
aka as "Dr Raker".
More on this later.....

Dr Raker is an optometrist. For those of you who have no idea
what an optometrist is and does.....?
He's an Eye Doctor!

A respectable profession. All three of the DeCarlo's work in a
respectableprofession. Then again...maybe it's only one!?!

Dr Raker is a top notch ball player and individual.
When I first met him he offered to give me a free eye exam.
Thank god he's not a proctologist.
He carries this chart around with him wherever he goes. I was
told that SHERM did not know how to pronounce the top line.
Just remember to always cover or close one eye
when your having your eyes checked.

Doctor Rake likes to talk with words that have a connotation to his profession.
Such as....

  • Here's looking at you kid!
  • What are you blind or something?
  • He would scream and then yell "Made you look!"
  • I'll keep an eye out for you
The reason why he is known as Doctor Raker? Some people
originally
thought that he enjoyed various "honey-do's" around the house.
Such as the picture below.
The truth to the story is that Dr DeCarlo became Doctor Raker
by hitting well off a pitching machine at the 2007 Cubs Camp.
"He Raked off the machine"
Alleged picture of Doc Rake talking to the neighborhood kids
on how they can be just like him when they grow up.

Dr Rake had an inside the park home run at Cubs Fantasy
Camp. After his game winning hit, all future bats he was heard
to say..."There's no need to fear - Dr Raker is here"

DR RAKER (i.e Rake) AT THE PLATE

It was rather interesting to watch Dr Raker get ready for
our daily games. He would go into a ZEN LIKE trance and chant.
Dr Raker became the self imposed expert on how to hit off
a pitching machine. The picture below is of Dr Raker analyzing
a hitand what the batter did wrong for Rick Sutcliffe, Future
Hall of Famer Lee Arthur Smith, and Hall of Famer - Billy Williams.
The former Cubs were heard to
exclaim,"What's the matter with you? - You need your eyes checked!"

"Can you guys read the print on the ball? I can!"...Dr Raker

In Conclusion, Dr. Raker was signed up for the 2008 Randy Hundley Cubs Fantasy Camp. He bailed at the last minute....his excuse was that he found a faster way to become an expert at "Raking" and will show everybody his skills at the 2009 Cubs camp with all of the DeCarlo brothers.

Picture of Dr Raker working on his skills for Cubs Camp 2009.....!
