What a Year 2008 has started out.
2007 was a challenge also.

Yeah...I know...Where's Smitty's updates?

I feel like I got hit by a Mack Truck a few weeks ago
and I'm trying to get thru some challenges.

I have some Cubs camp info to update....with travel,
internet challenges, etc., I have not had the
chance to complete.

Monday, January 21, 2008 - First Games of the week!

Started the day off with a
BIG breakfast at Good Egg.

Then onto Fitch Park-
Home of the 2008 Randy Hundley's Fantasy Camp

Fun Week!
Technology problems led to updating the Blog
The Williams-Fanzone 08 Bash Brothers
played the Willie Wilson- Todd Hundley team
for Game Two

Highlights from Game Two - Wilson-Hundley

• Sun was in the outfielder's eyes.
  
• Had the RBI for the 1st run
• I Played cataher for one inning and tagged a guy at the plate....
  Where was catcher Sherm when you needed him?
  
• 60 Rookies and 44 Veterans attending
• Cut out of Ollie (i.e. the late Gene Oliver) was watching over the festivities.
• We Lost 15 -4
  

Highlights from Game One - Sutcliffe - Davis

• Smitty LF-Aranoff SS - Ravage 3B Out goes the Runner.
• Had 3 Singles and 1 Broken bat Priceless!
  
• Everyone was hitting
• Score was 21 -12 WE WON!

everyone is on the roster....
We lost John Southsider to Rick Sutcliffe's team
and had to trade for Charlie A and Rick M that
had originally secured a position with us.

This weekend I was out of commission!
Considering I spent my time laffing my butt of
with one of the funniest guys in the world!
CARL LaBOVE~!CARL and I go back a long ways to the days of the late Sam Kinison

and I'm honored to call Carl one of my best
friends...I'm sorry...Carl is Family.

2nd Annual WGN Bash Brothers

Cubs fans and music lovers,

We are proud to announce the 2nd Annual Len & Bob Bash, which

will be Thursday January 17th at the House of Blues Chicago

to benefit Chicago Cubs Charities. We had such a great time with
Ryan Adams and the Redwalls last year and we're hoping
will be even better.
The great alternative-country group Son Volt, which played at this
year's Lollapalooza, will be our headliner. Son Volt was formed by
the talented Jay Farrar in 1994 after Uncle Tupelo dissolved. It is a
great way to kick off Cubs Convention weekend in downtown Chicago and
we hope you can make it. Here are the details:

*Tickets are $30 advance and $33 Day of Show.
*Doors open at 7:30 and the show is at 9:00, 21 and over.
*Tickets are on sale beginning this Thursday 12/20/07 at 10:00 am.
*You can go through Ticketmaster at 312-559-1212 or HOB.com.
*The House of Blues Box Office number for more information is

Again, proceeds benefit Chicago Cubs Charities

  Too much fungus amungus.

• Cash....the Camp has Cubs stuff for sale.
  Maybe something special for one of
  your loved ones back home.
• Bring Advil or Aleve...or...
  You will hurt at some point.
  WARNING! You could end up feeling a little different during
  the camp if you don't bring the Advil!
  Most of all Bring Yourself and get ready to play!

Camp tips for Happy Fantasy Camping.......

I've been asked,
"Smitty, I'm a Rookie Camper
What do I need to know?"
First off....
Have fun!!

• Bring Memorabilia that you would like signed
• The camp uses metal bats, you can bring your own.
  And "Yes!", you can bring wood. I broke one bat
  and had it signed and gave it to a friend of mine. Cool Gift!
• Get to know your coaches
• There are refrigerators in the hotel room
• Breakfast spot and Jamba Juice across the street
  from the hotel.
  
  
• I like to bring my own bottled water to the field.
• Players are very approachable...except in the shower.

• Don't forget to tip the locker room attendant and
  the training staff. They are your best friends! Trust me!
  
  
• Put your number and initials on all your clothes,
  gear and uniform. I lost a pair of expensive
  Under Armour pants last year.
